Flight and Operational Medicine Clinic
Flight Medicine promotes the health and functional well-being of our aviation community in a timely and flexible manner. The clinic offers a full range of acute, routine, and preventive medicine services for:
- Active duty flyers
- Active duty firefighters
- Special operations personnel who require a medical clearance to fly
Services Provided
Sick Call
Sick call is available for health concerns occurring within 72 hours. Personnel must check in BEFORE 7:30 a.m. Personnel seen at a civilian emergency room or urgent care must report or contact Flight Medicine the next duty day to provide documents.
Return-to-Fly (RTF)
Return-to-fly (RTF) clearance is available on a walk-in basis. Personnel must check in BEFORE 7:30 a.m.
Medically Necessary Surgery/Procedure
Active duty members requesting/receiving medically necessary surgery or procedure must notify Flight Medicine to ensure DNIF status is current.
Elective/Cosmetic Surgery
Active duty members must have MTF coordination and Unit Commander approval prior to scheduling or receiving surgery. Elective surgery is defined as non-emergent surgery at the member’s expense performed by a civilian or military physician and is not covered by health insurance.

Annual Periodic Health Assessment/Flight Physical
Periodic Health Assessment Questionnaire (PHAQ) must be completed prior to scheduling an appointment.
Mental Health Assessment
The MHA is virtual phone appointment that covers multiple mental health questions and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Flyers will have MHA completed as part of their PHA appointment.
Labs and Immunizations
If labs are required, please fast 12-14 hours prior to your appointment.
Audiograms
Exam will be scheduled by the technician when they book annual flight physicals. For annual flight physicals, please call 240-612-1757 or send a message to ‘Andrews MG FOMC’ on the
MHS GENESIS Patient Portal.

COVID-19 Vaccine, Exemptions, and/or Waivers

COVID-19 Testing
- COVID-19 testing is available Monday through Friday for symptomatic and asymptomatic/surveillance tests. Report to the COVID clinic on the first floor of the garage. Test results are available within 2-3 business days and posted on the TRICARE Online Patient Portal.

Medical Clearance
- To initiate a medical clearance for retraining, PCS clearance for active duty personnel, special duties, profiles, such as 469 or 422, security clearances and PME 422s. MSME is also responsible for the coordination of the Separations History Physical Exam program, as well as the Airman Medical Readiness Optimization Board (AMRO Board, formerly called the DAWG), and the Medical Evaluation Board process.
