COVID-19 Testing

COVID testing is available for enrolled beneficiaries as a walk-in service within their assigned Primary Care Clinic. Please review walk-in hours below:

Warrior Operational Medicine Clinic (Active Duty): Walk-ins taken on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 8 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m., and Tuesdays and Fridays, 8 – 11 a.m.
Non-Active Duty/Family Health Clinic: Monday – Friday, 8 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m.
Internal Medicine: Monday – Friday, 9 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m.
Pediatrics: Monday – Friday, 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.
USAF Flight Medicine Clinic: Monday – Friday, 7 – 7:30 a.m.
Navy Flight Medicine Clinic: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Banholzer Clinic: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Note: The Emergency Care Center (ECC) is not a COVID-19 testing site; COVID-19 testing is only performed for medical necessity.

COVID-19 Testing Eligibility

COVID-19 testing is available to beneficiaries who meet one of the following CDC and/or DOD criteria for a PCR test and are enrolled to MGMCSC:

Have COVID-19 symptoms
Testing for official travel
Meet CDC criteria for testing as a close contact:
- Less than six feet away from a confirmed positive for a cumulative of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period
- Test at day five from last contact, or sooner if symptoms develop

Non-enrolled patients seeking COVID testing should utilize services provided by their assigned MTF.

Who should get tested?
1. People who have symptoms of COVID-19

2.  People who have come into close contact with someone with COVID-19 should be tested to check for infection:
     a. People who are up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines should wear a mask for 10 days after last exposure to COVID-19 and should be tested five days after last exposure.
     b. People who are not up-to-date on their vaccinations should quarantine for five days after last exposure to COVID-19 and should be tested on day five. If negative, the person should were a mask around others for an additional five days.

Close contact is defined as:
1. Someone who was within six feet of a person with laboratory-confirmed or clinically diagnosed COVID-19 for 15 minutes or more within a 24-hour period.
     a. For example, three individual 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes.

2. A person with COVID-19 can spread SARS-CoV-2 starting from two days before they have any symptoms (or, for asymptomatic people, 2 days before the positive specimen collection date) until they meet criteria to be released from isolation

     a. Example 1: You spend time with a person (less than 6 feet for 15 minute or more) on Saturday. If the COVID-19 positive person started having symptoms on Thursday, you do not meet the criteria of a close contact and testing is not recommended.

     b. Example 2: You spend time with a person (less than 6 feet for 15 minute or more) on Friday. If the COVID-19 positive person started having symptoms on Saturday, you meet the criteria of a close contact and should follow testing and quarantine recommendations listed above.

Up-to-Date COVID-19 Vaccination is defined as:
- Less than six months has passed since initial two-dose vaccine series was completed, OR
- Less than two months has passed since initial one-dose vaccine was received, OR
- Having received any COVID-19 booster
What if my test result is positive?
1. Symptomatic personnel: Isolate at home for five days from symptom start date (day 0). May return to work if symptoms have improved AND at least 24 hours fever free, without the usage of fever reducing medications.

2. Asymptomatic personnel: Isolate at home for five days from test date (day 0). If symptoms develop, isolate for five days from symptom start date (day 0).

What if my test result is negative?
1. Symptomatic personnel: isolate at home until symptoms have improved AND you are fever-free for at least 24 hours.

2. Asymptomatic personnel:
a. Unvaccinated: quarantine at home for 14 full days. Test again 5-7 days after the known exposure. If negative, continue to quarantine until 14 days is complete.
b. Vaccinated: may return to work with mask on as long as you remain asymptomatic. Get tested between days 5-7 after a known exposure. If positive-isolate at home. If negative, return to work.
