Emergent Care

Emergent Care, or the ECC, provides both urgent and emergency medical care. If you become ill after hours with an urgent condition, for instance one that requires treatment within 24 hours, you must use this clinic or another local military medical emergency room. If you are enrolled to the 779 Medical Group and choose to use a civilian provider or urgent care facility, you must obtain prior authorization or you will be responsible for the cost of the visit. In an emergency, to include danger of losing life, limb or eyesight due to illness or injury, call 911, or on base call 522. We provide ambulance service for emergencies occurring on Joint Base Andrews. Emergency care is provided 24 hours a day. Patients are treated according to the severity of their illness, not on a first come, first served basis. TRICARE views an emergency as a medical, maternity or psychiatric condition you believe could threaten your life, limb or eye sight without immediate medical attention. Urgent care is for an illness or injury that requires treatment within 24 hours but is not life threatening. Examples include: migraine headache, earache, toothache, sprains, rising fever.
